I love to read. I read most of what is available to me, be it fiction or fact, science or history. Truth is I do prefer science and fiction to fact and history but not so much so that I ignore the latter. When I was very little, maybe 5 or 6, I remeber that I was walking home from Shul with my parents. Someone up the block from us (this was pittsburgh, we lived on a steep hill so up the block was litterally UP the block) had thrown out a great number of books. Just dumped them on the side of the street with the garbage. I was holding my mom's hand, I think. My mom stopped and looked at the pile of books and said something about how this was sad and I asked "Why? They are just books." And the reply I got has stuck in my head ever since. My mom said "yes they are just books but books are important. You should never throw away or destroy a book. Books are knowledge and even if you are done with them, someone else can use them, so never destroy a book."
So basically I blame my Mom (Freud is so proud of me right now) for the fact that I have a large collection of books, and I don't get rid of the old ones or the "bad" ones even though I have no personal use for them. On the other hand my Father is the same way and he was like that before my Mom knew him so maybe its genetic, and therefore my Fathers fault, at least as much as my Mom's. (take that Freud-Dude).
Anyway, I think when I have more time (yeah right) I will list my favorite books/authors and my least favorite books/authors. Until then this page will have to do.
Of course there is also the matter Books that I WANT but don't YET have. Those are lsited here in no particularly useful order.
