Have you ever looked at the cost of magazine subscriptions? I just did. They are EXPENSIVE (at least on my budget). So here are a few I would like to have, if anyone feels so inclined to get me a gift that continues for a year or two and enlightens me at the same time (MORE USELESS FACTS, WOO HOO!):

One of the most expensive is NATURE. unfortunately it is also one of the hardest to read. It works as an excellent cure for insomnia, but it is also one of the most famous and well run science magazines out there. You can get me a subscription here.

Science news weekly is a very well written weekly update of ongoing research and breakthroughs. This is not a magazine for people without science background, but it does not require a Ph.D. to read it (like, say, Nature does). You can get me a subscriptionYou can get yourself a subscription here. one friend (you know who you are, and THANK YOU so much) already bought this one for me.

Scientific American is a wonderful and respected monthly science review magazine. They do sensationalize some things but its not too bad, and their dumbing down aint too bad either. You can get me a subscription here.

New Scientist is another very good comprehensive weekly magazine published in the UK but printed here in the USA as well. It gives a more European view of things. This magazine also focuses more on environmental issues, something I like a lot. You can get me a subscription You can get yourself a subscription here.(I just got myself one) (Be patient, their server seems to have an ify connection sometimes.)

I already have subscriptions to Discover Magazine and Wired (and popular mechanics but I try not to admit to it). Both very good publications for completely different reasons.

Anyway, I think I have given a good example of what I would like in terms of magazines, so anything along those lines (NOT National Geographic, that's a very pretty but generally fluff filled magazine.) makes a very good gift.
