It has come to my attention that some of my friends took this page as a serius request for these items (thank you those who bought me things, you know who you are, it was unnecesary but much appreciated). That is not what this page is for. It was written partially as a joke, partially as a reminder to myself of what I want, and only a tiny bit as a place for suggestions on what to get me on my birthday (which actually only happens once a year, not every month no matter what I have claimed). I am not nearly as self centered or greedy as this page makes me sound (at least I hope I'm not).
With that said, please read on.
It has been said that men go through life as if they were following the concept of "He with the most toys when he dies WINS!"............Thats just not true. The truth is closer to "He with the COOLEST toys wins!" Which is very diffarent.
I personally don't own too many 'toys', they are just too expensive. I do have a TV, and a stereo set, and a minidisk player (which I suggest to anyone who has lots of music and a long commute to work/school), and a computer. But thats really all I have. I want so many more. I have seen/heard of some very very cool toys.
So, on this page I will, from time to time, post the latest greatest and coolest toy I have seen/want.
(My birthday is on the third (3) of EVERY month. ;) hint hint hint)
(10/25/01)
I have seen a number of new cool toys that I want , but the one that is formost in my mind right now is a new case for my computer. Admittedly I have owned my computer a grand total of 48 hours, but still, I don't think it's too soon to start thinking about some cool upgrades....right?
I want a new, solid aluminum (or aluminium for all you Brits) case, but they are expensive. I also have decided I need a new power supply, but that's also expensive, all told both items come to a collective 200 bucks that I don't have right now so it waits.
(09/20/01)
I have decided to start listing newest items at the top but am too lazy to re-arrainge everything in that order so .... its a bit of a mess here not that it matters to anyone but myself.
Today I shall add somethng I have wanted for a long time.
A DINING ROOM TABLE
I have at the moment a nice sturdy office folding table from Staples that my father is loaning to me. Its servicable and nice and generally does the job of dining room table well enough. Somehow though..... its fails to complete the job. It is very narrow and makes it soemwhat hard to have large meals as I have to set up extra table and there is no room for the food to stay on the table while we eat. I do uderstand that most people do not get a real dining room table until they have gotten married, but most people do not entertain as much as I do. I host a meal almost every weekend, and I like to do it with some style and comfort. I bought a table at one point in time but it turned out to be crap and got returned. Lost 40 bucks for shipping in the debacle but thats that.
I want a table that is made of wood, that expands, is at least 40x60 when closed, and is not horrably expensive. I actuay designed a table that folds away into almost nothing, but I do not have the cash to get it built.
So, if you hear of any amazing furniture sales, please tell me.
I finally thought of something (on 8/6/01)
BUT FIRST - It must be noted that the
BOOKS
I would like are listed elsewhere
. Books are very important to me, and as such deserve their own page.
that having been said...........
(updated 08/16/01)
I want a recumbant bicycle. I now OWN a recumbent bicycle. I ended up accidentally (I have banned myself from Ebay because of this) buying a recumbent bicylce when I was not fiscally ready for the outlay of $500.00. On the other hand, it's the most comfortable bike I have ever ridden. If you don't know what a recumbant bike is, think low to the ground and fast, except in this case your lying on your back instead of sitting hunched over handle bars. Like this:

Its much more comfortable and faster (and I have this thing for moving fast). unfortionately they start at about 500 dollars and go up and UP! So, if any of my friends wishes to buy me such a bike, go right ahead. I ended up buying a BikeE recumbent Bicycle. A low end one. It makes for a good starter recumbent but one day (two years from now maybe) I want to get something closer to the one above, or a real ground hugging long wheel base recumbent, the kind that does 40mph on level ground and 50mph on down-hills(we won't discuss the problems with up-hills).
And I also want this: I now HAVE this: (well not the mojo, but rather the Sony version which is DAMN cool and light and nice. My friends got it for me for my brthday, I have the most generouse friends in the world, thanks guys)

its a Mojo portable CD and MP3-CD player by TDK. I actually do not have my heart set on this particular MP3-CD player, I simply want one and this is one that I have a picture of. (I later found a picture of this one
, which my friend owns and says is good)
Update: 10/25/01
There are a whole bunch of new CD/MP3 players out there, including one by Philips that is very good and VERY inexpensive. I saw it on thinkgeek.com but I don't suggest buying it from them, they are generally over-priced.
Ok thats enough for today.

I started to list Magazines
I want but in the end put them on a seprate page, they took up too much space. (Actually, no more magazines please. One friend got me a subscription to a weekly science mag (thank you again, I love it), and I got me a subscription to another one, plus the three monthly magazines that I get....... its infromation overload at its worst, I want to read it all but just don't read fast enough...... oh well)

Ok, back to my true love, TECHNOLOGY and GADGETS. hehehehe, back to basics......
I love listening to music but I refuse to do it on the train in the morning. The reason is that in order to hear the music over the train's background noise, I have to pump the volume up to painful and detrimental levels. There is, however, a very nice neat answer to this. The problem is that it costs a bit-oh-money, so I am listing it on my wish list.
I want Noise Dampening Headphones.
Almost every major manufactorer makes noise canceling or dampening headphones (I was told to stay away from the bose as they are way more expensive than necesary). They usually run about 150 to 200 dollars. Pricey but worth it if it will save my hearing.

Of course there is this little item which I found on www.thinkgeek.com (a great place for all kinds of gifts for your favorite geek)and it does basically what the picture title says. It allows me to connect wirelessly to my home audio system, from anything that has audio out (like my computer in the next room). Its pretty cool.

I also looked at their MP3 section and saw, again, my favorite MP3 player. Originally designed by Compaq and then liscensed to another company for manufacture and sales, its damn cool.
I am also in the middle of building a new computer for myself so anyone who wants to get me a gift certificate to www.mwave.com, that would be much appreciated.
I guess thats it for now.

I have wanted these knives for a LONG time.

The MOMA has an online store that is selling thses knives for $157.00 which is pretty good for such amazing knives. They are kitchen knives, not hunting/maiming/killing/nasty knives for those who are wondering.

MINDSTORMS LEGO SET!!!!!!!!!
I want one, I have wanted one for a LONG time, and now they have upgraded them, unfortionately they are $200.00 and I am broke (again) so it is unlikely that I will be getting a set any time soon.
For those who don't know what MindStorms is, its a lego set that lets you build programable robots, moving parts, motors, sensors, and easy programming language included.
So damn cool.
Along a similar line I also want a connectix set but I can't find one so that too shall have to wait.
(Update: 10/25/01)
I have found the K'Nex site
, part of my problem was that I was miss-spelling it, gee theres a surprise. Its a cool site and they have a set to build Mechs, like those in the MechWarior game. Very cool!
